Advancing Health Equity in the Workplace

Health equity is the state in which everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of health, according to the CDC. To drive health equity in the workplace, the National Alliance Race, Health & Equity Framework for Change focuses on understanding the impact of differences; integrating equity into strategy; evaluating and engaging the supply chain; and sustaining a culture of inclusion.

To achieve health equity, the systems and policies that give rise to racial and ethnic health disparities must change. These resources offer opportunities to learn and enhance employee and organizational health and wellbeing through health equity.


Getting Back to Basics

Employers/purchasers play an important role in helping employees and their families get back to basics for today’s healthcare challenges. To support communications efforts, the National Alliance has created infographics and posters in Spanish and English for employers and employees.

Leading by Example and Moving Upstream Together: A Fresh Look at Addressing Social Needs and Social Determinants of the Workforce

A key issue facing the American healthcare system is the impact of social needs, social risks, and social determinants of health (SDoH) on healthcare. Understanding these impacts within the context of a population health strategy can foster a broader approach to closing gaps in care and in access to services. This report identifies a process model to enhance employee and community wellbeing.

Understanding Health Equity in the Workplace

Employers are undertaking foundational work on strategies that are inclusive of employer values, management buy-in, employee input, health plan and health vendor collaboration, and community needs. This Action Brief sets forth steps employers can take to drive health, equity and value.

Coalitions In Action

Membership in the National Alliance is a catalyst for state and regional coalitions and their employer/purchaser members to advance key initiatives like health equity. Together, they leverage their collective influence to drive health, equity and value.

By 2050, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and other minorities will make up a majority of the US population. Tomorrow’s workforce will be even more diverse than today’s. We must be prepared to meet their unique healthcare needs or be prepared to face costly consequences.
