National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions Elects New Board

Economic Alliance for Michigan President and CEO Bret Jackson named Chair

WASHINGTON – June 20, 2024 – The National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions elected its slate of new officers for the Board of Governors at its 2024 Coalition Strategy Summit. Officers are elected by their board peers based on proven leadership and commitment to the National Alliance and coalition movement to advance and strengthen the efforts of employers and other purchasers to improve health, equity and value for America’s working families.

Bret Jackson, President and CEO of the Economic Alliance for Michigan, was named Chair; Jenny Goins, President and CEO of the Kentuckiana Health Collaborative, named Vice Chair; Karen van Caulil, PhD, President and CEO of the Florida Alliance for Healthcare Value, continues her second term as Secretary/Treasurer.

Chris Syverson, CEO of the Nevada Business Group on Health and outgoing Board Chair, and Michael Stancil, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Business Group on Health, were elected as At-large Representatives for the Executive Committee, with Stancil serving in his first year on the Board.

Additional newly elected At-large Representatives:

  • Phil Belcher, Chief Executive Officer, HealthCareTN
  • Michael Howard, President and CEO, Alabama Employers Health Consortium
  • Chris Skisak, PhD, Executive Director, Houston Business Coalition on Health

Continuing their service as At-large Representatives:

  • Randa Deaton, Vice President Purchaser Engagement, Purchaser Business Group on Health
  • Amanda Greene, Director of Operations, Lehigh Valley Business Coalition on Healthcare
  • Jon Rankin, President and CEO, North Carolina Business Coalition on Health
  • Gloria Sachdev, PharmD, President and CEO, Employers’ Forum of Indiana

“As Board Chair I look forward to collaborating with coalition colleagues and other stakeholders as we continue the important work of the National Alliance,” said Bret Jackson. “Collectively the coalitions and our employer/purchaser members continue to strive for access to high-value and equitable care for their employees and family members.”

Continuing as external board members for their second terms are James Gelfand, CEO of The ERISA Industry Committee, and Hemi Tewarson, JD, Executive Director of the National Academy for State Health Policy. Christine Mohrhaus Hale, MD, Vice President, Lockton, and Dexter Shurney, MD, President, Blue Zones Well-Being Institute, are in the second year of their first term.
